Inselkarneval – Carnival of the Island

Every year on a Saturday in February or March at 08:11 pm the Carnival Prince and Princess take over the reign of the town of Burg on Fehmarn. And then the party begins. Two big tents on the market square offer dancing and fun with music of the 70s and today. The entrance fee is reduced when you arrive early in the evening.

In the afternoon, the children's carnival starts at 02:00 pm.

Everybody is encouraged to dress up, but it's not obligatory.

Rapsblütenfest in Petersdorf

(celebration to honour the blooming of the rape)

Spectators applauding, cameras clicking and crowds lining the street, cheering the passing monarchs... You are at the parade of the "Royals" from across Germany in Petersdorf on Fehmarn.

Every year in the middle of May, the sceptre of the part-time monarchs of Fehmarn is passed on at the crowning of the "Queen of the Rape Blossom"; and "Queens of Vine", "Princesses of Flowers" and other "Royals" come from all over Germany to congratulate.

The throne of the "Rape Blossom" has existed on Fehmarn for more than twenty years. The crowning has become a yearly event with a parade, music, show and dance and is today one of the highlights in the events calendar of Fehmarn.

Harbour-Festival

Every second year during three days in July the Harbour-Festival is held in Burgstaaken. The fishing harbour is filled with food stands, stages, activities, and a Ferris wheel (great views!). Spend a day with music and fun and enjoy a varied program in a maritime setting.

Kitesurf-Trophy

The tour final of the Kitesurf Trophy is held in Burgtiefe on the island of Fehmarn. Kitesurfers show their skills in the disciplines "freestyle" and "race". Spectators are fascinated by their moves and stunts, a fascinating spectacle even for "non-kiters". Entrance is free.

Kite-Festival

The Kite-Festival is one of the highlights in Fehmarn's events calendar. There are big kites and small kites of all colours and shapes that will amaze the spectators. Children can join in several activities; adults will enjoy the presentations and live music. It is held in Burgtiefe and entrance is free.

New Year's Eve Party

Starting at 10:00 pm, the open-air party at the beach in Burgtiefe will be one of the highlights of the night. Fireworks and music will welcome the New Year. Entrance is free.
