To find your ideal strand, simply pick a point on the compass. Go south to find wonderful sandy beaches, or head east to explore the cliffs on Fehmarn's rugged side. The north, in turn, features stunning dune-covered landscapes dotted with inland lakes – and the west of the island is the place to go for breath-taking sunsets.
Beaches that cater to all tastes
Children just want to dig in the sand and splash in the water all day long. So it's good to know that Fehmarn has wide sandy beaches, some with lifeguard supervision. Additional amenities such as beach chairs, kiosks, sports and leisure facilities are available, for example, in Burgtiefe and Grüner Brink. The seabed here slopes away very gently from the shore.
Beach oases in natural surroundings away from the hustle and bustle can be found in Püttsee, Flügge or Westermarkelsdorf. To find strands surrounded by cliffs, head for Wulfen and Katharinenhof.
Four-legged friends are welcome guests in Bojendorf or Meeschendorf. And at the nudist beach in Wallnau, no dress code applies.
