Exhibition "Gesamtkunstwerke"
23 April - 28 August 2022
The touring exhibition “Gesamtkunstwerke – Architecture by Arne Jacobsen and Otto Weitling in Germany” shows the background to the unique building development on the Burgtiefe peninsula by the two Danish architects, as well as other of their buildings in Germany. Their architecture is of outstanding importance for post-war modernism in Germany. At the same time, however, the quality of their projects has fallen into oblivion. The exhibition is an inventory of the current situation and how to deal with the legacy of late modernism.
For many people, a holiday on Fehmarn begins with crossing the Fehmarn Sound Bridge by car or train - a landmark, often affectionately named “coat hanger”, that connects our island with the mainland. Crossing it means for many guests already the first highlight of their holiday. In the north, a ferry service connects Fehmarn with the Danish mainland.
