Grüner Brink

Short facts

  • Fehmarn OT Gammendorf
In the north, a particularly interesting natural phenomenon awaits you: The 134-hectare strip of land, 2.5 km by up to 180 m in extension, between the dyke and the sea shore called "Grüner Brink" developed only after the dyke was built in 1872. Due to changing ebb and flow conditions, small, self-contained inland lakes were formed over the years, which today serve as a habitat for around 170 different species of birds.
